I recently bought a new camera lens, after trying a friends out. Just a simple 50mm 1.8 lens. Nothing exciting but its changed my world. I love the fact that if forces me to move instead of zooming in. I love the depth of field and the size of the lens.

And I love all of the above and way the lighting worked out.

I’ve been eying the yellow canola fields for the past few weeks, and last night I got me sisters and their musical instruments out into a farmer’s field. It was fun to play with the setting sun, my flash, and hang out with my sisters.

Rain rain go away

Last Saturday, I spent most of the day shooting in the rain. While I soon got tired of being constantly wet, and of trying to keep my camera dry, I rather enjoyed sports in the rain. It just adds another element.

The moon has a face…

Back when I was in grade 2 or 3 I had to learn a poem in school by Robert Louis Stevenson, it was a huge struggle and I recall disliking it greatly. But today the lines to that poem are often the first thing that comes to mind when I see the moon rising up over the horizon. And last night when I was laying in the grass playing trying to get just the right angle… I couldn’t help but start reciting… “The moon has a face….” funny the parts of childhood that stick with you.

On streets and fields and harbour quays,
And birdies asleep in the forks of the trees.

Living room+creativity=Photo Studio

I had planned to shot my sisters grad/formal photos last weekend, I had several ideas. But the rain and cold weather promptly put an end to several of my ideas. So instead I arranged my living room to take advantage of the natural window light and created my own little studio in the corner of my living room.

I couldn’t help but snag a few shots when I noticed the batter and following batter were almost mirror images of each other during a baseball game. I can say I am happy to see the return of summer sports. Nothing beats spending an evening outside…
